The polls are open to map our needs for Arkopolis.
A local event – a party! A vital experience in the public space of Elefsina, at Arkopolis. An engagement to learn about the rights of a public space in a fun way. We invite the Thriassion Field community, involved with Arkopolis – and beyond – to dance to the beats of Eurodance music selected by the local DJ duo Arvanite Pistols.
Most importantly, attendees will have the opportunity to express their opinions, impressions, and suggestions regarding the present and future of Arkopolis initiatives. Unfortunately, the event couldn’t take place at Arkopolis for technical reasons so it happened at the base of Cultterra team at Old Railway Station. So, during the party, three spaces of the Old Railway Station were used in a different way and hosted people of all ages, who lived a unique experience of fun and exchange of ideas.
The first space was the entrance to the station. There was the moment of the “ballot”, where guests were invited to answer a short questionnaire about the public space of ARKOPOLIS, which is a work of the contemporary cultural heritage of the city and one of the most important material heritage projects of 2023 Eleusis.
On the occasion of ARKOPOLIS and the European Parliament’s decision on the European Year of Cultural Heritage, a dialogue was launched on the role of Europe and the importance of young people’s participation in the upcoming European elections to be held on 9 June 2024.
The second space where the guests were invited was a dark room of the Station, where the video screening of the Timecircus collective from Belgium was held, featuring moments from their eight-month artistic residency in Elefsina, during which they transformed the former abandoned space of ARKOPOLIS into a cultural and meeting space.
The third and last place the guests reached on their way out of the second room was the backyard of the Old Railway Station. This is where the party took place, the heart of the fun with the Arvanite Pistols DJ duo setting the pace.
Cultterra and the Voices of Elefsina the community radio station of the city. Specifically, on the day of the party, Takis Bolovinos broadcasted live from his show, titled “Multi Culti,” conveying the pulse of the event to the listeners. The Cultterra team had the opportunity to describe what was happening at the station during the event: “ARKoPOLL: the party!”, the importance of public space, and information about the European elections that took place on June 9th.
