Rethink with the Communitives of Malmö (2024.06.01)
Book: 100 pages A5; card deck and a table.
“We all want to be part of something. Part of a friend group, part of a familiar crowd, part of making change. Now, let’s become part of a conversation.
Rethink is a step towards collaboration and an active network across diverse cultural, social and civil communitives* in Malmö. In this project we brought together 35 local communities and initiatives to be represented in a playful, yet educational game. People can use the game as a tool to get to know Malmö, find new connections and also to workshop ideas that might change the future.
You can play Rethink and come up with innovative solutions. The card deck contains 10 prompt cards that invite the players to solve different social problems by combining the work of the communitives in the game. Perhaps a creative collaboration between a volunteer-run repair café and a community theatre company can tackle excessive food waste in the city. How? That is up to you to figure out!
On the 1st of June we organised a Communitive Festival celebrating the project and bringing awareness on how citizens can protect their communities by practising their right to vote. We ate vegan fish cakes while dancing to djembe and posing for alternatively processed portraits.
*Communitive: A term we came up with that describes the collaboration between community-focused initiatives and communities that dare to take an initiative.”
