Sabine Groß oferă o interpretare conceptuală a mottoului minimalist „ceea ce vedeți este ceea ce vedeți”, folosind unul dintre elementele principale ale mișcării: cubul. A studiat la Academia de Arte Frumoase din München (1985-1991). Anul următor a fost beneficiara unei burse DAAD, datorită căreia a studiat la New York School of Visual Arts până în 1993. Întoasă în Europa, a primit o bursă la Cité Internationale des Arts din Paris (1994-1995). În 1998, a primit încă o bursă, Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg. Trecând de la educația proprie la educația altora, și-a început cariera de conferențiar la Academia de Arte Frumoase din Braunschweig (2007-2009), obținând ulterior titlul de profesor universitar la Academia de Arte Frumoase din Mainz, unde predă sculptură din 2009.

Cubul, adaptat aici într-o cutie de zi cu zi, este utilizat pentru a pune sub semnul întrebării însăși natura artei, atunci când materialele trec pragul dintre obiect și „obiect artistic”. Prin intermediul repetițiilor și al dispunerii în serie, ar trebui să se atragă atenția privitorului asupra calității expresive specifice a materialelor utilizate, asupra limbajului clar al designului și asupra contextului spațial. Nesting Site face exact acest lucru. Sculptura din rășină epoxidică acoperită cu vopsea strălucitoare, cu un fragment integrat de ipsos polimerizat și patinat, prezintă o deschidere, o fisură, de neratat pentru ochi, care trece prin suprafața altfel imaculată a unui turn din cuburi albe așezate unele peste altele. Titlul facilitează interpretarea oferită de contrastul dintre o perfecție foarte industrializată și o perturbare organică. Acesta evocă spațiul pe care îl ocupă omenirea, împiedicând populațiile de animale să găsească adăpost, și nevoia acestora de a se adapta – uneori prin distrugere, prin pătrundere cu forța – pentru a găsi spațiu într-un mediu natural colonizat și/sau distrus de oameni.

    Art@Europarl

    2019 European elections

    The European elections in May 2019 see about 51% of EU voters go to the polls, the highest turnout in 20 years. The centre-right European People’s Party and centre-left Social Democrats lose seats but remain the two largest groups in Parliament, while other centrist and liberal parties make gains.

    Brexit

    After the European Parliament ratified the withdrawal agreement on 29 January, the UK leaves the EU about three and a half years after voters supported the move in a referendum.

    As of 1 February, the number of EU member states is 27 and the term of office of UK MEPs ends. The number of MEPs is 705 (previously 751), as some of the UK seats are allocated to existing member states to reflect demographic changes, while others are kept in reserve for when another country joins the EU.
