Carolien ADRIAANSCHE

(1963)

Since her studies to become a theatre designer at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Carolien Adriaansche has been developing recycling workshops under the name De Afvaljuf, which she started in 2005 after participating in the “Professional Artist in the Classroom (BIK)” training. Adriaansche is a visual artist who mainly works with plastic waste. This waste forms the basis of her work. She believes we live in a plastic world: we use plastic all the time and even pay with it. Collecting and subsequently selecting plastic waste based on shape, colour and size is an essential part of her work. It is necessary for her to collect a large stock of waste in her studio, assisted by family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances. She calls herself a waste processing company.
