Gianni VISENTIN

(1938 - 2010)

Gianni Visentin was born in the Veneto in 1938. He first trained as a painter before turning to sculpture.
From the mid-1960s to the late 1970s, the artist lived in France, where he mingled in artistic circles of the post avant-garde. In seeking to emulate the Parisian lifestyle, Visentin’s love for sculpture blossomed, with painting dwindling in importance.

Visentin would remain faithful to the medium of sculpture, using it to explore a plethora of fundamental themes such as the environment and the reconciliation of love, good and evil, the restive modern spirit and metaphysical thought. He channelled this fervour to express his anger at the degradation of the environment, as well as the peace of mankind and the pursuit of solidarity, freedom and reconciliation.

Through these motifs, Visentin would probe the inner depths of the human soul.
