Magda KINT

(1936)

Magda Kint was born in Ninove in 1936. She was self-taught and brought her passion for art all the way to central Africa, where she lived from 1954 to 1960. There, she developed a fascination for nature, fauna and flora, subjects she pays tribute to in her oil and watercolour paintings.

Her figurative beginnings gave way to more abstract compositions in which horizontal lines (hinting at possible landscape depictions) structure the images, which are otherwise dominated by delicate and tenderly-expressed ascending smears.

Kint was awarded the prize of the city of Leuven in 1970 and won the National Drawing Contest (Nationale Tekenwedstrijd) at Kortenberg in 1971.
