Sabine Groß offre un'interpretazione concettuale al motto minimalista "ciò che vedi è ciò che vedi" utilizzando uno degli elementi centrali del movimento: il cubo. Studia presso l'Accademia di belle arti di Monaco (1985-1991). L'anno successivo ottiene una borsa di studio DAAD che la porta alla School of Visual Arts di New York, dove resta fino al 1993. Tornata in Europa, ottiene una borsa di studio per la Cité Internationale des Arts di Parigi (1994-1995). Nel 1998 riceve ancora un'altra borsa di studio, quella della fondazione Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg. Passando dal formare sé stessa a formare gli altri, inizia a insegnare presso l'Università di belle arti di Braunschweig (2007-2009), che la porta a una docenza di ruolo presso l'Accademia di belle arti di Magonza, dove insegna scultura dal 2009.

Il cubo, qui adattato in una scatola di tutti i giorni, è impiegato per mettere in discussione la natura stessa dell'arte, quando i materiali raggiungono la soglia di oggetto e di "oggetto artistico". Attraverso la ripetizione e la disposizione seriale, l'attenzione dell'osservatore dovrebbe essere portata verso la qualità espressiva specifica dei materiali usati, il linguaggio pulito del design e il contesto spaziale. Nesting Site fa proprio questo. La scultura in resina epossidica dipinta con vernice ultrabrillante, con un frammento integrato di gesso patinato e polimerizzato, presenta un'apertura, una crepa, che non può sfuggire all'occhio, che attraversa la superficie altrimenti immacolata di una torre di cubi bianchi impilati. Il titolo favorisce l'interpretazione trasmessa dal contrasto tra una perfezione altamente industrializzata e una rottura organica. Richiama lo spazio occupato dall'habitat umano, che impedisce alle popolazioni animali di trovare rifugio, e la loro necessità di adattarsi, a volte distruggendo o scavando buchi, per trovare posto in un ambiente naturale colonizzato e/o distrutto dagli esseri umani.

    Art@Europarl

    2019 European elections

    The European elections in May 2019 see about 51% of EU voters go to the polls, the highest turnout in 20 years. The centre-right European People’s Party and centre-left Social Democrats lose seats but remain the two largest groups in Parliament, while other centrist and liberal parties make gains.

    After the European Parliament ratified the withdrawal agreement on 29 January, the UK leaves the EU about three and a half years after voters supported the move in a referendum.

    As of 1 February, the number of EU member states is 27 and the term of office of UK MEPs ends. The number of MEPs is 705 (previously 751), as some of the UK seats are allocated to existing member states to reflect demographic changes, while others are kept in reserve for when another country joins the EU.
